Why does Google Rank Videos Differently to YouTube?
We investigate why Google and YouTube use different methods to rank videos on the results page.
A recent survey by Stone Temple Consulting found that the video rank position order on Google and YouTube varied in the result pages.
According to the findings from the report, there is a massive difference on how each platform assesses the user’s query on the search pages. Google is all about relevance, so matches the videos accordingly to the user’s keywords. Whereas YouTube’s focus is to entertain their audience.
The outcome of the study shows the difference between YouTube’s value metrics and Google’s KPI’s but ultimately the user’s experience is and always will be the main focus.
