Best Times for Businesses to Post on Social Media Platforms

Update 24th March 2021

Social Media is one of the most effective and inexpensive ways to grow brand awareness.

Businesses can use social media to engage with their followers and listen to feedback in real-time. By sharing your businesses latest news and promotions via social platforms you can target users that might have been unreachable in the past. It’s important for many businesses to share with their followers regularly.  By hitting the right time to post, they could be receiving higher interactions and try to keep your audience in mind and when they are likely online interacting on social media.

Did you know that different days and times are better than others, this is due to the different number of users on a particular platform at any given time? This also differs per platform and business. Depending on the business these guidelines may not suit your business, different industries may have varied methods and time to catch their audience at the moment.

An example of this is with a client of ours who supply building materials to tradesmen. We manage and maintain their social media platforms and activities. We find that catching the tradesmen at the right time is very important when putting out key information that may appeal to them. This means we monitor the best times to post for their audience by analysing data for their accounts. In this instance, we find that posting gets the most engagement in the week around the times of 8 am and 10 am as well as lunchtime and early evening. This is when they are most likely to be online and interacting with our content.

Posting at the right time and day is all well and good but the content needs to resonate with your audience as well. This means planning out compelling content that your audience will engage with.

Think about things that affect your audience the small differences in their daily mood and routines even the weather! This means acknowledging the little things people do like checking Instagram on their phones when they wake up in the morning, you could share content of positive news or information to start their day or week off well.

Being Consistent with your posts is very important too. It allows your audience to see your brand on a regular basis and boosts brand awareness. A source from Hubspot wrote a case study and found that on Instagram “Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon, Friday from midnight to 10:00” got the most Consistent Engagement.

Planning out monthly content so you have a strategy to work from is a great way to reach your goals, knowing where to start isn’t always easy and that is where Netinspire’s steps in! An example is if your customer base is usually consumers then it’s been reported that on average the best time to post is on weekends.
